Poise Tips
- Keep your neck and ears over your shoulders, this will help you keep your neck and back straight.
- Hold your stomach in so that it doesn't bulge out.
- Glance down only with your eyes so that others will not notice when you are glancing down.
- Keeping your chin parallel to the floor will help you to not look at the floor.
- Keep your torso directly underneath your shoulders, and relax your arms gently at your side.
Exercises
Try this exercise to help improve your poise! It may feel awkward at first, but after a while, you won't even have to think about your poise!
If you are considering runway modeling, these exercises will help to give you excellent poise for the runway.
- Put your hands on your shoulders and bring your arms up (in front of you). This is the right position for your shoulders when you have good posture.
- Take a broomstick or another stick that is about the same size and bend your elbows to a ninety degree angle. Then, move your arms slightly behind you.
- Put the broomstick behind your back and through your elbows, effectively practicing this can help straighten your back.
