Christy Turlington, whose ethnicities include American and El Salvadoran, was born on January 2, 1969 in Walnut Creek, California. She currently lives in New York City, NY.
Because of her parental heritage, Christy is actually bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish fluently.
Christy is 5 feet 10 inches tall and wears a size 9 shoe. She was discovered by a photographer while she was horsebackriding when she was just 13 years old.
It wasn't until 1987 when she was on the front cover of the Italian Vogue that she really began to be publically noticed.
Despite the fact that she doesn't like the label 'supermodel,' Christy has been recognized as one of the first supermodels, along with Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Stephanie Seymour, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Elle MacPherson, and Tatjana Patitz.
She has appeared on the covers on numerous magazines as well. Some of these include Cosmopolitan, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire, Vogue, Latina, and others.
She is a spokesmodel for Calvin Klein, which she has been representing since 1987, as well as Maybelline cosmetics.
Like other supermodels, Christy has partnership with some successful businesses, including Mahanuala which is a yoga outfit company, an ayurvedic skincare line, her own line entitled Sundari, and even a couple of outfit lines that Puma produces.
Besides partnering with Mahanuala, Christy has even authored a book entitled Living Yoga: Creating A Life Practice.
