Bath Salt Recipes to Alleviate Stress and Soften Skin

Bath salts can help to soften your skin as well as help you relax and melt away the stress. Sometimes it is nice to get away from the business of life and just relax your mind and body.

Bathing has been around for many ages, from the Ancient Romans to Islamic Cultures and far beyond.

Some considered bathing to be a ritual and a social business while others such as the Early Christians considered bathing to be impure.

Today we know that there are many health benefits from bathing. Check out these bath salt recipes to help enhance your next bathing experience! These can be made from pretty common ingredients and can be oh so calming!

Citric Bath Salts

Ingredients:
  • Large Glass or Metal Mixing Bowl
  • 1/2 cup Baking Soda
  • 1/4 cup Citric Acid
  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • 3/4 tsp Essential Oil
  • 2-3 drops of Food Coloring (Optional)
Bath Salt Steps:
  1. Combine 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/4 cup citric acid, 1/4 cup cornstarch, 3/4 tsp essential oil, and 2 to 3 drops favorite food coloring color.
  2. Mix well so that the oil is thoroughly distributed through the dry mixture. Try not to overdo the food coloring. Sprinkle 2 tbsp of salts over the water just before you get into your bathtub.


Sea Salts

Ingredients:

  • Large Glass or Metal Mixing Bowl
  • 5 lbs. Sea Salt
  • 1 oz. Vegetable Glycerin
  • 1/2 oz Essential Oils
  • 2-3 drops of Food Coloring (optional)

Steps:

  1. Combine 1 oz. of glycerin with the 1/2 oz. of Essential Oil, and 2 or 3 drops of food coloring.
  2. Pour the sea salt into a jar and make sure you mix the mixture well.
  3. Fill decorative containers and jars with the salts and scoop out with a seashell to add a fun twist.
Bath Salt


Essential Sea Salts

Ingredients:

  • Large Glass or Metal Mixing Bowl
  • 1/4 cup Epsom Salts
  • 1/8 cup Baking Soda
  • 1/8 cup Sea Salt
  • 10 drops of Essential Oil

Steps:

  1. Measure 1/4 cup of Epsom Salts and 1/8 cup of Sea Salt into a bowl and blend them well together.
  2. Add 5 drops of your favorite essential oil and blend it in well, then add 5 more drops and blend well again.
  3. Package in an airtight container and label "Essential Sea Salts."
  4. To use, add 1/4 - 1/2 cup to your bath water.


Secret Scented Bath Salts

Ingredients:

Bath Salt
  • Large Glass or Metal Mixing Bowl
  • 2 cups Epsom's Salts
  • 1 cup Sea Salt
  • Food Coloring
  • 1/2 tsp. Glycerin
  • 4-5 Drops of Essential Oil
Steps:
  1. Combine 2 cups of Epsom Salt and 1 cup of Sea Salt into bowl and mix well.
  2. Add 2 or 3 drops of food coloring, then add more until the wanted color is achieved.
  3. Add 1/2 tsp. Glycerin and Essential Oil (4 or 5 drops) and mix well.
  4. Scoop salts into decorative containers and jars, then seal.
